Yeah, Rome: Total War review today.. yeah!

G'damn cold has knocked me flat so I'll actually update early today.
Online mobile porn to be a $1 Billion industry by 2008. As if TVs in cars wasn't bad enough now you'll have to put Net Nanny on your kid's cell phones or PDAs.
Watching TV today and there was a fascinating show on History Channel regarding the history of comic books. Here's a link to the DVD of the show.

I'm not a science expert but I don't see a problem with stopping the space shuttle program, do you? Rockets are cheaper and the ISS is way beyond budget as it is and doesn't do many useful things since they can't keep a full crew up there. Personally I think let's get to the moon, then Mars, then the money shot which is the asteroid belt where people could start mining that thing for it's precious metals.
Quake II server problems? The problem being, of course, that these people still hammer at Quake II. It's been out since.. '98, right? Damn play something else every once in a while.

Pascal, a programming language which caused me infinite headaches, is 30 this month. I loved college, the second I stopped trying to be a computer science major.
How about some old DOS games but with OpenGL graphics? Those pixilated bitmap characters look.. well they still look crappy.
And where is my Rome: Total War review? Sorry, I'm still slugging at this game. It might take a while.

So some students get on USENET and between surfing for porn and warez they design something to shoot into space. I hope they get the design directions correctly.
Some Finnish scientist thinks the 'Net will collapse in 2006.
Viruses, trojans, spam, and security flaws are all on the march in the view of the Helsinki University of Technology professor, and if current trends continue, their burden will topple the global network.
BAH! More patches will come out and people, like lemmings, will install them. New spyware blockets, ad blockers, and antivirus will keep coming out.

News sites are saying Half-Life 2 went gold today. While others are drooling I'm a bit hesitant to get excited. Most of the hype deals with the multiplayer portion of the game but I never really liked Counter-Strike or Team Fortress. The single player was a lot of fun but my soft squishy part of my heart is still reserved for shooting, decimating, and decapitating Nazis in very violent ways.
Alternate reality gaming? I have an answer to this. Don't. Play paintball instead! Reality gaming right there for all your Ghost Recon tendencies
I'm not the best math person, but I'm intrigued by this book since I like watching football and I actually did like high school physics. Mostly because others were left withering in a crying pool of their own blood, tears, and Duracell battery acid as they smashed their TI calculators into the desk. My buddies and I got A's. hehe..

Did you feel your internet connection catch on fire when you connected to this site? If you did, I'm sorry but the new servers this is being hosted on are, as near as I can tell, running on a matter-antimatter mixture for their Internet connection. 13ms ping time to the host? What the hell, it's like Scotty, Geordi, O'Brien, and Data are running these servers. So sweet.
This is a nice story but ONLY if the kid ends up using his skills to like supercharge his wheelchair or put a nitro booster on it like you can in Grand Turismo. Three words kid: bolt on kits.

I was out of town. I'm sure I wasn't missed.
The site was f'ed up that's true. I'm given this space for free so in return my site's often used as a guinea pig for the host. Apparently, this site is now sitting on a fat server cluster of P4 with all the fancy bells and whistles which is quite a step up from the single P3 server it was on before this time. Perhaps it's time to consider upgrading to NukePHP or some other bulletin board system.
However, I don't want it to look like Ars' new look. Gawd it's like a C|Net rip-off. I preferred the simple HTML black and white they had going but now it's gone. It makes me weep.
If People Can Fly keeps this up, there won't be a need to buy the game. But, however, they still do not give the public the best level of Painkiller which was the train station. Want to argue that point? Email me. Go on, I dare you!! World War I skeleton corpses throwing mustard gas can not be beat. Ever.
Why should I give a damn about anything new from 3DRealms when they can't even get something old out? Sequel to Duke Nuke'em is now on the same level of possibility as the second coming of the Christ.
Did Al Gore get inducted?

Total War patch, fixes multiplayer stuff and makes the elephants weaker.
I still have no desire to play shooters on a Playstation or Xbox, despite this news.
Yes, it's the firewalls fault. Let's pass the buck some more Microsoft. Yeah port 80 is open and trusted but then you setup antivirus and proxy servers to monitor traffic hitting those ports. But when there patches and exploits for your product being produced faster than a mother spider laying eggs what the hell do you want?
What the hell does this prove? The linkage on slashdot said it showed nerds at the forefront? Forefront of what? Modding Xboxes. Yeah, that'll get you laid.

Was surfing and found a link for Unreal 3. Never played the first two but damn look at these screenshots!

This was the strategic overview map of my game of Rome Total War as of Sunday around 7:00PM. I had the red section and was doing, what I felt was pretty good. Then about 3 turns later the entire game went to hell. Five sections revolted and the Roman Senate decided to declare war on me since I didn't follow their orders and kill one of my own faction leaders. Damn hell the sudden turn about on the province's loyalty is what pissed me off about Medieval, too. True you need governor's to manage these areas but when you aren't creating enough of them, what can you do?
Ah well, back to square one and this time maybe I should do a smaller campaign or something.

I'm pretty sure that Rome:Total War is about as far as I ever want to get into a strategy game. Sure it's a lot of fun but damn this is a lot of crap to keep track of at any one time. And the AI sucks which wasn't a super bad thing in the first two Total War games but now that you have no choice but to relegate command of some reinforcements to the computer it really can screw up the best laid plans. "Where's that 5-star general going? NO DON'T CHARGE RIGHT INTO THOSE SPEARMEN!!"
Also, does anyone else often call their DSL provider for a connectivity issue but right when you call or talk to someone the problem's gone? Twice that's happened to me with Earthlink. Perhaps after you enter in your number they do a diagnostic of the line and if a problem is found they fix it while you're on hold.
