I was fortunate enough to get into the Battlefield 2142 demo but its difficult to describe the gameplay since I don't have friends in there to yell at and shoot stuff with which is paramount to shooters such as this. Mostly first person team based shooters such as this get boring without friends to interact with while playing and/or tebagging.
This strip discusses teabagging but that fourth panel of course is completely wrong. There's only one answer to such heresy.

Tea, Earl Grey, hot. Right in the grill.

Geesh, it's been 10 days? Oh yeah, I gayed out and maxed out my character in Everquest 2. I guess that means I can loot more gear or.. something.. Honestly, I'm not sure what the hell to do. It's pretty rough to solo as a healer or solo in EQ2 in general.
Now I tried Sudden Strike years ago and was underwhelmed by the entire thing. But apparently there's third one being worked on at this time.

Now this is the kind of interview question that speaks to ME. I didn't think 1Up was capable of such quality.
1UP: Is it too late to add some kind of way of retaliating when people are teabagging me?
PW: You can -- if you really do suffer from uh, from teabagging, basically I think the best thing you can do is go through the menu and find a good taunt. We have a number of particularly offensive ones in there. And you'd basically just want to taunt the hell out of them continuously. In fact, there's another thing you can do. Track down that guy who's, you know, being somewhat offensive toward you, and you can use our solo assignment system, identify him, and have your entire team just kill the hell out of him.
First, I hope when I was playing at Quakecon that I teabagged the person who did this interview and second, come on Paul, you want someone to taunt me while I'm teabagging them? Oh you know I like it when these bitches talk dirty.
Teabags people, LOTS of teabags should always be the goal.

At Quakecon I was unable to ask some questions at the id Q&A because the session ran out of time and by the end of it my mouth was frozen shut because the Anatole decided that the 100 degree outside weather needed to have its alter ego on the inside of the convention. Was the Anatole hosting a computer convention or a meat locker?
So, unable to garner satisfaction I decided I'd go for the gusto and ask Todd Hollenshed of id my two questions. Here they are:
1. At the ET:QW session on Thursday there was mention of a possible public beta for the game. Can a general timeline be given for it's release? Q4 of2006, 1Q of 2007 or something along those lines?
A: No time frame on the beta.
2. In the discussion of RtCW2 for the PC and console this made me consider other games that had been released for the PC and console. For example, Serious Sam 2. A downside of a game being released on both is that often the developers will scale down or dumb down a game to work on a console normally at the cost of graphical detail or number of enemies on the screen or other means. If RtCW2 is released on both the console and the PC will the PC experience be similar to the console (in other words simplified or have its details lessened) or will the PC version be different from the console?
A:
It's too early to tell if there will be differences between the 360 and PC versions of the new Wolfenstein title, however the 360 is the primary development platform.I'm REALLY concerned about this because while I might only play through the single player once or twice, when I'm given Nazis on my screen I want BATTALIONS of those bastards coming at me. I'm not even against repsawn timers in a single player game if it means I get to shoot, stab, detonate, or burn Nazis.

The AntiElvis pointed out to me something about the DVD multi-thread thing mentioned by Jean at Quakecon:
Q: Will dual-core/multicore systems be utilized more in future titles?
A: They are attempting to have multi-thread games work particularly for consoles. I don't think I understand this part but Jan Paul might have mentioned something about how Enemy Territory will somehow multithread data but that didn't make sense since he then started talking about content from the DVD.
<<
No, man, this makes perfect sense. With an I/O thread running background you could use the DVD like a hard drive, as long as you can predict what content will be needed - and with dual core you could decompress that content dynamically very quickly. This makes for a neat and clean game install, protects game assets from piracy, opens-up stuff like hi-def streaming audio and video in-game (say a street scene as seen from a window - no 3D to render) - all kinds of stuff.
And now ya know.

Quakecon 2006 coverage, Part 2!
As a side note, spoke with Levelord for a few minutes really great guy. Mentioned they were working on quite a few projects right now, obviously one being the next episode of SiN.

I can not think of a much better way to start a new month and blank front page then with Quakecon news!
First off, I will be there so security will be tight both to protect me from my flock of three fans and to protect the convention from me stealing a copy of Quake Wars and/or mugging John Carmack for his brain.
For Thursday the item of interest to me starts at 7:00PM and is entitled "An Inside Look at Enemy Territory: Quake Wars" on the Main Stage. Now, normally I'd just drive down to the convention but there's two issues there. First, the Anatole wants $15/day to park in their lot so they can forget that. Instead, the little lady and I are going to try and figure out the DART rail/bus system. DART has been compared to a square wheel so this should be interesting. But, an all day pass is $5 for both of us so it's worth the extra effort.
Friday there's two items of interest. The first is an "Open Q&A" with id. The second is a forum entitled "Modding Quake Wars." Now I don't have much interest in actually modding QW but I would be interested in seeing what others might be thinking. Sadly, Carmack doesn't speak until nearly 6:00PM and after already being there at Quakecon for about six hours, I don't think I could handle listening to The Carmack discuss graphic engines. You'll have to go to another site for that one.
