Quakecon starts Wednesday or Thursday.  The Sanitarium will be there.  The issue is how to post from there. 

Because of the lack of games recently that interest me, I've been spending an inordinate amount of time EQ2 again after a hiatus.  If you get far enough you get to specialized quests for your character class. Bear witness to one reward: a pope hat.   Also, you fight a lot of dragons,

Clerks 2 is great movie if you're around the same age as the main characters.  Either you like Kevin Smith movies or you don't, it doesn't get much easier than that.  Also, Rosario Dawson dancing is always a good thing. I may be in my early 30s but I ain't dead. 

This chart gives you a breakdown of the market share for the various MMORPG games that are online right now.  I knew WoW was rocking things but I didn't realize it was by that much.  Oddly, Everquest I had a larger fanbase than Everquest 2.  I guess some people don't want to let go.  Others such as myself wonder why we can't let go of EQ2.

However, if Sony's current financial woes in it's game division continue I wonder if there will continue to be an Everquest world.

Well AMD and ATI tied the knot. I hope my fears are proven wrong. 

Madden NFL on Pay-Per-View.  Would someone pay to watch others play Madden.  I guess so.

The founder of AOL, Steve Case,  apologized for the merger with Time-Warner. I'm sure he said that while lighting a Cuban immigrant to light his cigar rolled in $100 bills.

It has been 11 days since I last posted and for that the five of you read my site have my sincerest apologies. I just keep checking the gaming news and nothings spurs my interest. In fact, today all I'm posting will be news that deals with computers and not games directly.  

Where's the interesting game news or have I just become overly picky. Perhaps this guy's right when he says that World of Warcraft takes away a large portion of the revenue normally used by people to play other games. 

AMD/ATI rumors floating around again.  I don't think this would be good for AMD as they have enough problems keeping up with Intel and making a regular profit. 

Microsoft promises, absolutely promises this with crossing their heart and hope to die, that they will encourage competition. How fucked up is it when a company promises that this time they will not retaliate against those who don't install non-Microsoft OSes, amongst other things.

Preview for BF2142 here. One of the pictures states the new walker is iconic because it's never been seen in the series.  That'd be interesting if every other futuristic game didn't already have walker type vehicles.  They've also apparently changed the default parachute key from the 9 key to the space bar.   I am guessing everyone's going to change that back since anyone who's played shooters for more than two days knows that the space bar is for jumping. 

It's probably easier to get more excited about Medieval 2: Total War which is previewed here.  The fact that the AI will remember what I did and base it's future actions on that is creepily one step towards a HAL like system.  My computer will soon know me better than I know me.  And it too will probably weep quietly at night. However, in the demo battles described it sounds like the AI still possess the tactical prowess of a sleeping cat. 

With Roxburgh's English forces dug in along a ridge, the French infantry launch an audacious bid to turn themselves into gallic kebabs as they march straight onto a row of spikes placed down by his archers (an all-new feature), while they send their cavalry through the trees to launch a surprise attack. Misjudged in the extreme, Roxburgh quickly dispatches an attempted foot soldier diversion, leaving the French mounted knights isolated and vulnerable.

"But hey, look at the graphics!"   I think that was the point of that preview.

The Prey demo starts out pretty generic despite its Indian reservation trappings but about midway through the game provides some new game mechanics that can, in a sense, start to make this a squad based game. Admittedly a very small squad but a squad nonetheless.  But what perplexes me is why the digital download of the game will cost the same as the box retail.
