If this is your first time visiting my site, then welcome.  My name is Sphinx and I'm a gaming enthusiast.  In my real world life I also work with computers all day managing a network so I know my way around a computer and it's inner workings.

This article regards my most recent system upgrade.  As I was building my machine I took notes and pictures about everything I did while building it in the hopes that if there is someone else out there considering an upgrade on their existing system that it might help them out in some way.

This article does NOT encompass an exhaustive review of all processors, motherboards, and memory types out on the market.  This article also will not have a thousand benchmarks in it from 3DMark or Winstone since I think those numbers are geared more to the hardcore PC builder who equate a better 3DMark score with penis size.  My benchmark comparison between my old and new system are much simpler and translate into a more meaningful number for a gamer: frames per second.  If you need more benchmark numbers, please go to Tom's Hardware instead.

My goal, on the other hand, is to maximize my gaming experience, minimize cost, minimize system problems, and also minimize or eliminate the need to replace the system for at least three years. So, with tax refund in one hand, and Phillips screwdriver in the other, here's how it all went down for my upgrade.
